Summer Camp 2003

It rained five of the seven hours driving to Summer Camp 2003 mostly on two lane highways. The lurkermobile though is excellent for that kind of driving and passing, even on hilly and curving roads it's easy. It stopped raining around Hannibal. This was the first time I crossed the River here and was surprised at how small the bridge was. I was also surprised to meet Reg and Kuhn as soon as I got there as I didn't think they would be there. We hauled all our crap in as soon as we found the JacksBrains campsite. Uncle Jimmy, Gwen, Stephanie and Charlotte had arrived the night before and set up a camp with two locals, Erin and Alecia. The camping and venue were both very good, biggest annoyance was the cooler searches entering the campground from the parking lot. We managed OK though. Met alot of nice people as you would expect at a hippie festival. Karl Denson's show was terrific, I like Tiny Universe now after seeing them live more than I ever imagined I would. I enjoyed the Moe shows as always (great lighting!) but came to see Keller Williams for the first time and was not disappointed with his loopless performance. Besides two stages operating almost full time there were all of the vendors you would expect at a festival, kite flying, cocktails, etc. moe put on several musician workshops which were most interesting. All in all a great festival and I hated to leave. Enjoy the pix (click 'em to make 'em bigger) and I'll see you at SHACKAMEE 2003 June 28.
Regards,
lurker
