These photos are by Mindy Eckler:

Here is Mindy, and her daughter Samantha, during their visit to Chamberlain's gravesite.

Mindy and her daughter, Samantha, met this young gentleman via the Internet.

Ironically, he is a reenactor in an Alabama regiment!

(Left Photo) Grave of Grace Chamberlain Allen, eldest surviving daughter of Joshua and Fannie Chamberlain.

(Right Photo) Grave of Harold Wyllys Chamberlain, eldest surviving son of Joshua and Fannie Chamberlain.

The Chamberlain family plot -- From left to right: Joshua Chamberlain, wife Fannie Chamberlain, son Harold Wyllys Chamberlain, daughter Grace Dupee Chamberlain Allen, infant daughters Emily Stelle and Gertrude Loraine Chamberlain (stone is set in the ground), and Lillian Edmunds (a family friend who became Fannie's companion in her later years).

The ground around the graves has been reseeded, and is covered with a special netting. There's also a low wall surrounding the plot. Probably due to the foot traffic from all the visitors.

Joshua Chamberlain's veterans' grave marker.

Here, you'll get a good look at the reseeded ground.

These photos are by David Lepkowski:

Here is David, standing between the graves of Joshua Chamberlain (left, with the flag and wreath), and his wife, Fannie.

A real nice look at Chamberlain's veteran's grave marker.

Here's the reverse side of Fannie's grave.

The following photos are by Pamela Sparks:

This is an adorable picture of Pam's eldest son, Carl, exploring the area around Joshua Chamberlain's grave site.

The following four pictures were taken during Pam's visit to Maine, in September 2001:

(Left Photo) Pam got a beautiful picture of Joshua Chamberlain's gravesite.

(Right Photo) The graves of Joshua Chamberlain and his wife, Fannie.

Here, you can see the epitaph on Fannie's gravestone: "UNVEILED, October 18, 1905", in reference to her blindness.

Another view of the graves of Joshua Chamberlain and his wife, Fannie.

Here's Pam's photo of Joshua Chamberlain's veterans' grave marker.

The following photos are by Robert Grenier:

Here is Bobby, standing next to Chamberlain's grave. One of the best pictures I've ever seen of the gravesite.

This was taken during Bobby's "Chamberlain Days" visit in August 2003.

Bobby got a real nice view of the entire Chamberlain family grave plot. From left to right: Chamberlain, his wife Fannie, son Harold Wyllys and daughter Grace Dupee.

Just out of view on the right is the stone marking the graves of Joshua and Fannie's last two children, Emily Stelle and Gertrude Loraine, who were infants when they died.

The following photos are by Tim Goodling:

This is a lovely shot of Joshua Chamberlain's grave. It's almost always decorated with flags, flowers, coins-and sometimes even love notes!

A closer view of Joshua Chamberlain's grave.

A "decorated" view of Joshua Chamberlain's veteran's grave marker.

This is an 'undecorated' closeup of Joshua Chamberlain's veteran's grave marker.

This marks the graves of Joshua and Fannie Chamberlain's two daughters, who died in infancy. Emily Stelle died in September 1859, and Gertrude Loraine died in August 1865. Both babies were less than a year old.

This is the reverse side of the grave of Frances Caroline Adams Chamberlain, Joshua's wife. The front side has the inscription: "UNVEILED - OCTOBER 18, 1905' - a rather poignant reference to the blindness Fannie suffered in later life.

This is the grave of Grace Dupee Chamberlain Allen, Joshua and Fannie Chamberlain's eldest surviving daughter.

I wonder why she wasn't buried beside her husband, Horace Allen, in Marshfield, Massachusetts? If you can solve that mystery, please let me know!

This is the grave of Harold Wyllys Chamberlain, only surviving son of Joshua and Fannie Chamberlain.

Their unnamed firstborn son was stillborn, three months premature.
